Our Achievements
Neighborhood Housing Services of Dimmit County, Inc. (NHSDC) is proud to announce the successful acquisition of over $8 million in grants from esteemed organizations, including USDA Rural Development Rural Enterprise, NeighborWorks, USDA Rural Microentrepreneur Assistance Program, and the Department of Health and Human Services Administration for Children and Families, among others.
Loma Vista Subdivision Development
We have developed the Loma Vista subdivision, providing affordable housing and helping families achieve homeownership.
Support for Socially-Disadvantaged Farmers
We have offered below-market interest rate loans to socially-disadvantaged farmers, enabling the conversion of non-productive ranch land into olive groves and organic herb farms, supporting sustainable agriculture.
Microlending and Consumer Lending
NHSDC has expanded financial services through microlending with the SBA and consumer lending via CDFI certification, aiding small businesses and individuals in accessing much-needed capital.
Federal Home Loan Bank and Texas Department of Housing and Community Affairs
We received technical assistance from the Federal Home Loan Bank of Dallas and a TDHCA grant for constructing a multifamily home, furthering our affordable housing initiatives.
Employment and Commercial Development
Our funding facilitated the construction of the Agri-Plex Hydroponic Greenhouse Center, promoting self-sufficiency through job creation and economic growth.
Regional Construction Projects
NHSDC has a proven track record of successful construction projects, having built homes and office buildings in Eagle Pass, Uvalde, Crystal City, and Asherton. These projects have helped meet the housing and commercial needs of these communities, contributing to their economic development.
Skill Development Sessions
We will offer training to prospective homeowners and new entrepreneurs. This training is designed to increase their chances of long-term success by equipping them with the knowledge and skills necessary to manage financial responsibilities effectively.
Organizational Capacity Building
A portion of our funds has been invested in hiring staff and purchasing essential equipment, including a residential and commercial architectural plan printer, enhancing our service delivery.
